IBM’s Buying Spree

August 10, 2006 · No Comments

This is getting really spooky.

First this: “IBM to acquire MRO Software” (see http://www-306.ibm.com/software/tivoli/welcome/mro/index.html) Then this: “IBM to Acquire FileNet to Advance Information On Demand Strategy (see http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/20100.wss).

Does this shut up all of the “IBM is going to buy Lawson” rumors?  Or does it further fuel them?  Or does it matter?

If you had a supplier (let’s be honest–Lawson can say “partner” but to IBM, Lawson is just an aggregating customer), on whom your livelihood depended and they started buying your competitors, wouldn’t that make you nervous?

Any bets on how soon Lawson will back off from their IBM partnership/stack and go to something else?
